The National Chamber Orchestra activates
in the framework of the Organ Hall. This orchestra is well known in the world
due to the fact that it toured in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland,
Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Turkey, Israel, USA, and due to its high performing
qualities shown in the presented repertoire, which is performed
enthusiastically according to the musical style and to the requirements of
the time. The National Chamber Orchestra was founded in the spring of 1988 on
the initiative of the conductor Alfred GERSHFELD (currently established in
USA), who was the first artistic manager of this musical ensemble. Then the
function of orchestra’s prime conductor was taket over by Alexandru SAMOILÃ
(currently first conductor at the Izmir Opera, Turkey), Dumitru GOIA
(established in Bucharest, Romania), Evghenii SAMOILOV (St-Petersburg,
Russia), Liviu BUIUC (Bacau, Romania), Cristian FLOREA (Spain). Currently,
the National Chamber Orchestra also collaborates with the conductors Gh.
Mustea, V. Doni, M. Sechkin and O. Palymski.
The musicians from the National
Chamber Orchestra are mostly young, but the concertmasters activate since the
orchestra’s setting up and have a rich experience: Dorina BOTSU, orchestra’s
and first violins concertmaster, Lola CROITORU, concertmaster of the second
violins, Vladimir ANDRIEª, concertmaster of violas and Nicolai TATARINOV,
merited master in art from the Republic of Moldova, concertmaster of cellos.
All the musicians from the orchestra are alumni of the musical high education
institutions from Chisinau, Moscow and Niyhny-Novgorod. Each musician is also a soloist,
performing concertos for solo instruments and orchestra and participates in
various instrumental ensembles: string trios, quartets, quintets etc., as
well as piano, clavichord, wind instruments ensembles, where performers from
Moldova and from abroad are invited. One of the orchestra’s accomplishments,
which are to be mentioned, is the recording of a CD with the French trumpeter
Bernard SOUSTROT. The launching of this CD took place at the Mantansier
Theatre from Versailles in 1998. Some National Chamber Orchestra musicians
were invited to perform in the framework of the European Symphonic Orchestra,
where they had the honour to collaborate with famous musicians: P. DOMINGO
and J. CARRERAS, tenors, T. BERGANZA, mezzo-soprano, A.PALEI, pianist, G.
CROITORU, violinist, in different concert halls from Europe.

On the Chisinau Organ Hall’s stage
the National Chamber Orchestra recently performed with many invited
conductors and soloists. It is worth mentioning the O. BÃLAN and Gh. COSTIN,
conductors, I. IVAN-RONCEA,
harpist, A. TOMESCU and G. CROITORU, C. ANGHELESCU violinists (Romania), P.
STRUB, conductor (Germany), D.
MELOZZI, flutist (Italy), M. CRAIOVEANU, conductor and violinist (USA), C.
WARD, conductor (Great Britain), H. PRAMMER, conductor, A. SASSMANN, pianist,
W. GOLLNER, violonist (Austria), A. CHOROSINSKI, organist, T. DOMANOWSKI,
pianist, N. DONDALSKI, violinist (Poland), P. MIGARD, conductor, M. DALBERTO,
pianist (France), J. NUMMINEN, conductor (Finland), Yu. SHUTKO, flutist
(Ukraine), M. IAªVILI, violinist (Russia). All of them have impressed the
Moldovan spectators with their exceptional performing qualities.
The National
Chamber Orchestra’s repertoire includes a vast part of the chamber universal
and national music: from pre-classic to contemporary authors. The most
performed are the instrumental concerts by Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Telemann,
Mendelssohn, Copland, Stamiz, Shostakovich, especially the organ ones, such
as Poulenc’s Concerto for organ, timpani and strings, 6 concertos by Händel, Salieri’s, Haydn’s
concertos, Mozart’s ecclesiastic sonatas, sacred music pieces for organ and
strings. It also performs symphonies, serenades, concerti grosso,
divertimenti, suites, opera fragments, music for theatre and film. The
orchestra often performs works in first audition and its library enriches
every year with approximately 50 scores.
